Ila Marie Phillips, 71, of Prineville, a former Baker City resident, died Nov. 19, 2004, at her home.

Her memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the upstairs room at the Veterans Club in Prineville.

Mrs. Phillips was born on Jan. 8, 1933, at West Plains, Mo., to Claude and Ila Stephenson. Soon after her birth, the family moved to Prineville where she spent most of her life.

Along the way she met the love of her life, Allen Phillips. They were married at Reno, Nev., and together they raised a family. They lived in Baker City for a time.

Ila was known for her great skill in the kitchen, and also was known for her ability to iron clothing, which she did for many people. She also is remembered for her enjoyment of doing crossword puzzles and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be missed by many.

Survivors include her husband, Allen of Prineville; daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Ernie Slavey of Prineville; son and daughter-in-law, Jessie and Kathy Fuller of Prineville; daughter, Becky Stewart, and her companion, Kent Brandon of Prineville; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Amy Phillips of Spokane, Wash.; and daughter, Barbara Phillips of Denver; her brother, Guy Stephenson of Cottage Grove; sisters, Mabel Barnes of Prineville and Fern Finwick of Kingman, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
