Elmer Emele Of Baker Succumbs
Former Farmer Employed By City for Last 16 Years.

Baker City, Baker County, Oregon

Elmer A. Emele of Baker died yesterday afternoon at his home on tenth Street after a long illness.

Born October 24, 1889, in Rosendale, Missouri, Mr. Emele crossed the plains with his parents when was but four years of age. The family camped here in September 17, 1873 and later moved to Big Creek, which is now known as Medical Springs. Mr. Emele purchased the Ross homestead in that region and lived there much of his early life, engaging in farming and stock-raising. He and Miss Elsie Sams were married June 22, 1894. they moved to Baker in 1906. Mr. Emele had been employed in the city street department here for the last 16 years.

Mr. Emele is survived by his widow; three daughters, Nell Emele of Portland, Barbara Emile of Salem, Mrs. Mike O’Donnell of Baker; four sons, Alfred of Portland, and Harry, Vernon and Donald of Baker; two sisters, Mrs. William Pope and Mrs. Matt Dean; one brother, Ben Emele of Haines, and six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 in the Baker Funeral Home with Rev. J. T. Croot officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
