Died—At Vader, Washington, Monday, August 9, 1926, Andrew Wilkinson, age 84 years, 7 months and 14 days. The funeral took place from the Methodist church, Union, Friday, August 13, 1926, at 2:30 o’clock p.m. Word was received at Union early Monday morning of the serious illness of Mr. Wilkinson, and his daughter, Mrs. Webb, left that morning on No. 17 for Vader, but her father passed away before her arrival at Vader. Mrs. Webb returned with the remains Thursday, and the funeral took place as above noted. “Uncle Andy” Wilkinson was one of the old settlers of this section, and had a friend in every acquaintance, and all regret his passing away, though it has been evident for several years that he was nearing the end. Andrew Wilkinson, son of Jacob and Matilda Wilkinson, was born in Cedar County, Mo., Dec. 26, 1841, and died at the home of his son, Edward, at Vader, Washinton, Aug. 9th, 1926, age 81 years, 7 months and 13 days. In 1863 he left the home of his birth and came to Denver, Colo. Five years later he in company with others came by ox team over the plains through Montana via Walla Walla, Wash., thence to the Grande Ronde Valley, and after a time purchased a large farm in High valley, where he entered the cattle business, as well as developing his farm, making a success in both adventures.
