Biographical Sketch of William Albert Crowell

William Albert Crowell, manager and proprietor of the James Crowe Co., of Redwood City, the oldest undertaking establishment of the county, has made a host of friends since his arrival in Redwood City three years ago. Mr. Crowell has made the interests of his new place of residence his interests and few newcomers have taken a more prominent place in the community than that held by Mr. Crowell. . When Mr. Crowell took over the establishment that was founded in 1868 by the late James Crowe, a pioneer undertaker of San Mateo county, Redwood City gained a man of wide experience in this line. Mr. Crowell has been in the undertaking business in several cities, his last venture being in Sacramento where he was established for nine years. Mr. Crowell has been appointed a deputy to Coroner W. A. Brooke. This is another position in which Mr. Crowell is thoroughly experienced. He was coroner and public administrator of Placer county. At that time he was established in the undertaking business at Auburn. William Albert Crowell was born on August 9, 1862 in Massachusetts. He has lived in California thirty-five years. On August 9, 1889, Mr. Crowell was married in Tulare. He has three children Bethel, aged 24, Elaine, 15, and Wilma, 13. Stout, Hosea H., Jr. – Obituary

Hosea H. Stout, Jr., a resident of Lindsay, died there Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000. He was 77. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Lindsay-Strathmore Cemetery, with Alan Savage, president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 3608, officiating. Mr. Stout was born in Mansfield, MO. He was a graduate of Strathmore Union High School. He was a retired foreman employed by Lindsay Olive Growers for 15 years. He was a resident of Lindsay for 67 years and was a member of the American Legion Post 128 and the Lindsay-Strathmore area Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 3608 in Exeter. He was a veteran of the Army having served during World War II with General George Patton’s 3rd Army Corp in the 8th Armored Division. He was at the Siegfried Line battle, the Battle of the Bulge and the D-Day allied invasion in Normandy. Survivors include his wife, Nadine Stout of Lindsay; a son, Michael Stout of Strathmore; two daughters, Kathryn Cassida of Lucerne Valley and Cynthia Crist of Oklahoma City, Okla.; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Babb, Susan Mary Findley – Obituary

Services will be at 10 a.m., Friday in Hadley Funeral Chapel in Visalia for former Tularean Susan M. Babb, 97, Visalia, who died Monday [January 6, 1992] in a Visalia hospital. Mrs. Babb was born, raised and educated in Macomb, Mo. She worked on the farm until marrying Harrison Babb in 1912 in Macomb, Mo. The couple moved to Exeter in 1929. In 1944, they moved to Tulare, where they had a ranch. They lived in Ivanhoe a short time before moving to Visalia in 1957. Mr. Babb died in 1959. She was a homemaker. She is survived by two sons, Harry Babb, Tulare, and Fred Miller, San Diego; two daughters, Eunice Wilshire, Exeter, and Juanita Flint, Auburn; 19 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren Burial will be in Exeter District Cemetery. Babb, Harrison McKinley – Obituary

Harrison McKinley Babb, 68, Visalia, former resident of Tulare, died last night [April 19, 1959] in a Visalia hospital. He was a native of Macomb, MO. Babb moved to Exeter in 1929 and later moved to Tulare. He had lived in Visalia for the past nine years and was a retired dairy rancher. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mary Susan Babb, Visalia; two sons, Harry T. Babb, Tulare, and James H. Babb, Visalia; an adopted son Fred L. Miller, Visalia; three daughters, Mrs. Lois E. McLaughlin, Visalia; Mrs. Eunice K. Wilshire, Exeter, and Mrs. Juanita M. Flynn, Loomis; three brothers, Bishop Babb, Tulare; Virgil Babb, Long Beach, and George Babb, Myrtle Creek, Ore.; two sisters, Mrs. Birdie J. Short and Mrs. Sarah Dewey, both of Mansfield, MO., and 16 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, at 10:30 a.m. in the Hadley Funeral Chapel, Exeter, with the Rev. R.
