Earl A. Davis, M. D. A native son of Kansas, who is assisting to maintain the prestige of his state in the field of medical achievement, Dr. Earl A. Davis had attained a position of distinction among the physicians and surgeons of Chanute, where he had been engaged in the practice of his calling since 1903. He is the son of a physician, Dr. J. Davis, and was born May 20, 1875, at Ottawa, Franklin County. The family of which Doctor Davis is a member originated in Wales and came from that country to America during the colonial period, the first members taking up their residence in Pennsylvania. The doctor’s grandfather was also a physician and surgeon and for many years practiced in Ohio, where his death occurred. Dr. J. Davis was born in Ohio in 1833, and was there reared and educated. After his preliminary training was completed he enrolled as a student in the Cleveland Medical College, from which he was graduated, and subsequently pursued a course at the Cincinnati Homeopathic College, from which he received his degree. He was married in Ohio and in 1868 came to Kansas, settling as a pioneer physician at Ottawa, where he had continued in practice during a period of nearly a half a century. Alexander C. Flack, M. D. Thirty-one years of practice at Fredonia entitles Dr. Alexander C. Flack to recognition as the second oldest physician and surgeon of the city, whence he came in 1885 shortly after receiving his diploma. He had since been one of the reliable members of the medical fraternity here and a citizen who had done his share in aiding in the city’s progress and prosperity. Doctor Flack is a native of the Buckeye state, born at East Liberty, Logan County, Ohio, May 2, 1858, a son of Thomas H. and Agnes (Bell) Flack. Hugh Flack, the grandfather of Doctor Flack, was born at Bailieborough, County Cavan, Ireland, and was a grandson of people on the paternal side who were born in Scotland. His mother, Christine Linster, was born in Ireland of Scotch descent. Hugh Flack passed his entire life as a farmer and never left the shores of his native Erin, passing away in County Cavan. He was the father of twin sons: Thomas H.; and Patrick, the latter of whom died near East Liberty, Ohio, after a career passed in agricultural pursuits. Walter Bell, the maternal grandfather of Doctor Flack, was born in Ireland, but his parents came from England, while his wife, who bore the maiden name of Nancy Parker, was born in Ireland, but of Scotch parentage. Thomas H. Flack was born at Bailieborough, County Cavan, Ireland, in 1818, and was twenty-two years of age when he emigrated to the United States.
