Clark, Emma Mrs. – Obituary

Union , Union County, Oregon Died, at Nyssa, Oregon, at the home of R. E. Miller, January 21, 1926, Mrs. Emma Clark, age 57 years, 10 months and 3 days. Emma Bidwell was born at Fairview, Minnesota, March 18, 1868. She came to Union with her parents in 1884, which has ever since been her home. She chose school teaching for her life’s work and for about 40 years followed this great profession. She was indeed successful and happy in her work and was one of the best known, best beloved teachers in Union county and eastern Oregon. Early in life she was converted and joined the Methodist Episcopal Church. Coming to Union, she transferred her membership to this church and for years was a faithful and consistent member, ever ready to do her share in promoting the cause of righteousness in this community, nor letting her light shine. A number of years ago she became a member of G. R. V. Chapter O.E.S. No. 49 and endeared herself to a large circle of sisters in this good and influential order. the circle was broken once more only to be reunited in that land of endless day. She is survived by three brothers-Lester, of Island City; Frank and Elmer , of North Powder, and one nephew-Dean, of North Powder, and a host of friends who mourn her passing. The funeral was held at the Methodist church in Union Saturday, January 23, 1926, at 2 o’clock p. m. Services were conducted by Rev. C. A. Cove, Oregon Jimmie Duane Kimball Sr Jimmie Duane Kimball Sr., 76, of Cove died Feb. 19 of age-related causes. A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Union LDS Church. Mr. Kimball was born Feb. 17, 1931, to Milo and Bernice Kimball in Backus, Minn. He and his wife, Linda, were married Oct. 10, 1981. He retired as a truck driver in the early 1990s. Survivors include his wife; sons, Jimmie Kimball, Chuck Kimball and Joe Andes; siblings, Jack, Doug, Vernon, Roger, Tom, Joyce, Norma and Carole; and three grandchildren. Petersen, Tina – Obituary

Cove, Oregon Tina Petersen, 48, of Cove died Sept. 22 at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland of complications of autoimmune inner ear disease and diabetes. The family is holding a gathering of her friends and their companion animals at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Birnie Park in La Grande. Tina was born March 7, 1959, in Park Rapids, Minn., to Jim and Carol Groth. Despite contracting Type 1 diabetes at age 2, she had a happy childhood in Walker, Minn., “up north” in lake country, and graduated from Walker High School in 1977. She attended Iowa State University and St. Cloud State University in Minnesota, studying veterinary science and journalism. She also graduated with a teaching degree from Eastern Oregon University in 1997. She married Jeff Petersen on Dec. 24, 1983, in Greybull, Wyo. The couple lived in and worked for newspapers in Wyoming, Idaho, South Dakota and Minnesota before settling in Amery, Wis. Tina worked nearby in Center City, Minn., for Hazelden Educational Materials as a copywriter. In 1994, the couple moved to Oregon, where Tina worked for The Observer in La Grande. She enjoyed writing and won numerous awards as a reporter. Tina enjoyed travel, having lived in Sweden for a stretch during high school and later working for a summer at Yellowstone National Park. She loved reading, horseback riding and listening to music, which was frustrating for her when she lost her hearing during the last months of her life.
