Ferguson, William B. – Obituary

Funeral services for William (Bill) Ferguson, age 71, well known Enterprise and Baker, Ore., business man were conducted Friday, Feb. 27, in Gray’s West and Company Pioneer Chapel.

The Rev. Richard K. Toll of St. Stephens Episcopal Church officiated.

Burial followed in the family plot in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Mr. Ferguson died Wednesday, Feb. 24, at his home after an extended illness.

He was born Oct. 12, 1904, in Corning, Kansas, the son of George and Mattie Mae Casey Ferguson. He had his schooling in Broken Bow and was married to Isla Pearl Williams, May 2, 1925, in Grande Island, Nebraska. He moved from Kansas to Nebraska and ranched with his father for several years. In 1944 he was in the automobile business in Enterprise, Oregon until 1966 when he moved to Baker City and operated Ferguson Motors with a dealership for Datsun vehicles until his retirement. He had been in the automobile business from 1935 to his retirement in Baker City.

He was a great outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing but most of all he loved Oregon and was always glad he had settled here.

He is survived by his wife, Isla; two sons, William C. Ferguson of Pendleton, Oregon, Jack Ferguson of Baker; two daughters, Audrey Best of Baker, Virginia Hayden of La Grande. Oregon; three brothers, Roy, Glen and Robert Ferguson all of Broken Bow; Kansas; three sisters, Edith Thompson of Colorado; Grace Bronson of Iowa; Hazel Tiff of Berwyn; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends who wish may contribute to the Mt. States Tumor Institute and this may be done at Grays’ West and Company.

Friends may call at the Chapel until noon Friday February 27.
