The Modale High School Baseball team started out
this fall a little short of experienced men. We suffered the loss of Jerry Elliff and our
old trusty, Hart Beebe, who is accustomed to the mound. Even though we did lose two mighty
good players we won fifty per cent of our games.
Our first game was with Mondamin, there, on September 24, 1926.
This game was not a very good starter, but nevertheless our team had the usual go and
punch. Wilhelm and Godden, exchanging in the box, gave each his first game of pitching.
In our second game we met with success at Little Sioux. Our gang
piled in seven scores in the first inning, consequently blowing up the Soo Southpaw.
Godden and Evans in battery.
The third game was another success against the Little Indians at
Modale. Even a change of diamonds and twirlers did not hand them any horse shoes. Godden
and Wilhelm again exchanging in the box, with faithful Evans behind the willows.
The last, but not least, last fall, was a massacre on Mondamin's
part. WE kept up the old pep, but the GO! GANG! GO! did not seem to stop the Mondamin
sluggers. We were beaten by a large margin, but are we down-hearted? "YELL
