Thomas Wilkinson died at his home in High Valley, Thursday, March 23, 1922, age 85 years and 27 days.
He was born in Peoria County, Illinois, January 24, 1837. His early life was spent in Illinois, Missouri and Nebraska.
He crossed the plains to Oregon in 1864. Starting from Nebraska, May 9, and arriving in Oregon, October 9.
He was married to Lydia A. Rundall November 27, 1879. To this union four children were born who survive him-Jacob H., Tillie A., Mary E., and Philip Edgar. His wife passed January 13, 1918. Three grandchildren survive; one sister, Mrs. Eliza Hathaway of Halfway, Oregon, and one brother, Andrew Wilkinson, of Klaber, Washington, and many other relatives and a host of friends. He had been engaged in farming and stock raising until of late he retired, turning the work over to his children. He was an honorable, upright citizen, a kind father, a good friend and neighbor, always doing as he would wish to be done by, and he has gone to his reward.
The funeral was held at the Union cemetery, services by Rev. Hughes of the Presbyterian Church, friends paying their last respects to this good man. Interment in the local cemetery by the side of his wife.
