Reedy, Carl Eugene – Obituary

Carl Eugene Reedy, 65, of Baker City, died Oct. 4, 2007, at St. Elizabeth Health Services.

At his request, there will be no formal service. Friends are invited to join the family in sharing stories and memories at a celebration of Carl’s life at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Main Event, 1950 Main St.

Carl was born Feb. 2, 1942, at Mattoon, Ill., to George and Olive Maxine Austin Reedy. He was a longtime and dedicated employee of Ash Grove Cement, retiring around the year 2000.

He was a very good-hearted man, who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need, his family said. He often would himself go without to give to a child in need; he hated to see anyone suffer, especially children. Carl was also a heck of a stubborn man, but his kindness made it endearing.

He had a huge love and respect for the outdoors. Before his illness, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. These skills he happily passed on to his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed the beauty of the mountains, the Snake River in the sun and all of nature.

Survivors include his wife, Cherly Lynn Reedy of Port Angeles, Wash.; four children, Diana Rector and her husband, Richard, of Port Angeles, Wash., Donna Reedy of Port Angeles, Wash., James Reedy of Salem and Eric Pinkston of Huntington; five grandchildren, Toney Hussey and her husband, Joe, of Texas, Richie Rector of Port Angeles, Wash., Michael Lunyou of Baker City, OR, Chayna Rector of Port Angeles, Wash., and LeeDonna Reedy of Port Angeles, Wash.; and a sister, Carolyn Thom, and her husband, Pat, of Baker City.

Memorial contributions may be made to Carl Reedy Estate to help the family with expenses in care of Gray’s West & Co. Pioneer Chapel, 1500 Dewey Ave., Baker City, OR 97814.
