Michael Reed Moody, 76, of Peck, Idaho, and a former Halfway resident, died at Clearwater Valley Hospital in Orofino, Idaho, Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004.
A party in memory of Mike will be held Saturday, Jan. 24, 6 p.m. at the Canyon Inn in Peck, Idaho.
Pine Hills Funeral Chapel in Orofino is in charge of the arrangements.
Michael Reed Moody was born March 4, 1927, the youngest child of George Michael Moody and Anna Catherine Reed Moody. Mike was raised by his oldest sister and her husband, Christine and Clair Ritter, following the death of his father and his mother’s failing health. He attended Jim Town School through the 8th grade and spent a short time at Halfway High School. He joined the Navy in March of 1944 and served aboard the LST 640 in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was honorably discharged June 1946.
Mike and Lois Jean Mehlhorn were married in Walla Walla, Wash., May 28, 1948. Together they have owned and operated the Canyon Inn in Peck, Idaho, for the last 28 years, during which Mike fished the Clearwater River at every opportunity available.
He is survived by his wife off 55+ years, Lois; three sons, George Michael, John Matthew and James Luke Moody; seven grandchildren, Kim, Heather, George, Michael Jr., Tanya, Jeff, Stephanie and John Reed; six great-grandchildren, Aaron, Lauren Ann, Megan, Jonathan Kennedy and Leighton Reed; a brother, Franklin Henry (Bill) Moody and a sister, Sarah Louise (Pat) Martin; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Heart Association, Northwest Children’s Home in Lewiston or a charity of your choice.
