Duncan, Mary Jane Wagner Cameron Mrs. – Obituary

Joseph, Wallowa County, Oregon

Mrs. Wesley Duncan passed away at the family home in Joseph last Thursday morning, March 8. She had been confined to her bed for 15 months, following an attack of flue and had been a patient sufferer.

The funeral was held Friday in the Methodist church at Joseph and the sermon was delivered by Rev. H.L. Ford, pastor of the Christian church at Enterprise. Burial was in the Enterprise cemetery, where a child of Mrs. Duncan was laid to rest.

Mary Jane Wagner was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G.J. Wagner, long time residents of Wallowa county who moved to Portland in their declining years. She was born September 12, 1863 at Buena Vista, Idaho. In 1883 she was married to E.J. Cameron and to them were born two children, Melvin and Rhoda. The former passed away in childhood and the latter is now Mrs. D. E. Rowe of Vancouver, Washington.

Mr. Cameron died in 1888 and his widow was married in 1893 to Wesley Duncan. After living in Union county a few years they moved to Joseph in 1903. Two children of this union survive, E. Lillian Duncan, who teaches in Enterprise and George S. Duncan.

Mrs. Duncan was survived by her husband and her own children and four step children: Mae Duncan William of Grangeville, Idaho; noel and Wesley Duncan of Joseph and Leonard Duncan of Portland, and these brothers and sisters: Mrs. Lee Imbler of Ardenwald, Mrs. Sam Litch of Enterprise, Mrs. Ann Hunt of Pocatello, Idaho, Mrs. Grace Barren of Richland, George and John Wagner of Enterprise and Fred Wagner of Elgin.
