Old Ebenezer Church, Effingham County GA – 1760 Baptisms

Salome, daughter of Henry Meyer and his wife Mary, was born on Ogeechy River in Georgia, Feb. 1, 1758, and baptized Jan. 3, 1760. Sponsors were John Adam Treutlen, his wife and Ursula, wife of Martin Taescher.

Judith, child of the same parents, born June 21, 17% 9, and baptized on the just named Jan. 3, 1760. Mar-tin Taescher, his wife and Mrs. Treutlen acted as sponsors.

John George, child of John Schiehle and Anna his wife, was born early on Jan. 17, 1760, and baptized the same day. His sponsors are John George Deininger and his wife Barbara Deininger, also Caspar Heck and his wife.

Mary, a Negro child on the land of the Messrs. von Muench, was born in the night before Jan. 11, 1760, and baptized on the 18th. Pastor Boltzius and his wife were the sponsors.

Anna Catharine, daughter of Martin Taescher and Ursula his wife, was born Feb. 1, 1760, and baptized the following day. Sponsors were John Adam Treutlen, his wife and Mrs. Boltzius.

Catharine, daughter of Michael Rieser and Apollonia his wife, was born Feb. 1, 1760, and baptized on the following day. Sponsors were Surgeon Mayer and his wife and Mrs. Hannah Elizabeth Wertsch.

Daniel, child of Christian Birck and Ursula his wife, was born Feb. 24, 1760, and baptized on the 25th. Sponsors were Pastor Boltzius, his wife and Ruprecht Zimmerebener.

Salome, child of Thomas Baxly and Verybee his wife, was born, and baptized Feb. 24, 1760. She was at this time about something over six years old. Sponsors were John Martin Rheinlaender and Mary his wife, and Mary Magdalene Kolcher.

Benaiah, child of Thomas Schweighofer and Hannah his wife, was born Feb. 27, 1760, and baptized on the 28th. Sponsors were Ruprecht Zimmerebener and Elizabeth Kogler.

Gottlieb, son of John Rentz and his wife Barbara, was born March 20, 1760, and baptized the same day. Sponsors were Christopher Kraemer, August Zimmerebener and Mrs. Cath. Lemcke.

Elizabeth, child of Adam Treutle and Margaret his wife, was born April 8, 1760, and baptized on the 9th. Sponsors were John Kornberger and Lucia his wife; Mrs. Hanna Elizabeth Wertsch.

Mary Catharine, child of John George Schneider and Mary Barbara his wife, was born April 21, 1760, and baptized the same day. Sponsors were Leonard Kraus, his wife Barbara and Rebecca Fanl.

The wife of John Philip Paulitsch gave birth to a still-born girl, April 21, 1760.

John, son of Jacob Gnann and his wife Mary Margaret, was born in the night before April 23, 1760, and baptized the same day. Sponsors were Christopher Kraemer, G. Faul and Rebecca his wife; M. Magd. Schubtrein.

John, 4 years old, born Jan. 24, 1756, Mary, 3 years old, born March 24, 1757, Sarah, 1 year old, born April 4, 1759. These children of James Larrimoz and Rebecca his wife, were baptized at the same time, April 26, 1760. The parents themselves were the sponsors.

Mary, daughter of Joseph Schubtrein and Mary his wife, was born April 26, 1760, and baptized on the same day. Sponsors were Nicholas Schubtrein and Anna Mary his wife.

George, son of George Gruber and his wife Elizabeth, was born in the night after Ascension Day, March 15, 176o, and baptized the following 16th. Sponsors were Christian Biddenbach, Jacob Mohr, Sophia Biddenbach and Ursula Landfelder.

Michael, child of Bartholomew Mackh and Mary his wife, was born May 20, 1760 early before day, and baptized the same day. Sponsors were Michael Weinkauf, Paul Finck and Anna Margaret his wife, and Sophia Biddenbach.

Lucia, daughter of Matthias Seckinger and his wife, Anna Catherine, was born June 7, 1760, and baptized on the following day, the first Sunday after Trinity, in Jerusalem Church. Sponsors were John George Ziegler, his wife and Sybilla Glaner.

John George, child of John George Niess and Catharine his wife, was born in the night before June 12, 176o, and baptized the same day. Sponsors were G. Faul and his wife Rebecca, Jacob Mohr, sen. and his wife.

Lydia, child of Conrad Rahn and Anna Barbara his wife, was born before day June 15, 1760, and baptized the same day, the second Sunday after Trinity. Sponsors were Matth. Zettler and Elizabeth Catharine his wife, also Ursula Paulitsth.

Christian Philip was born July 8, 176o before day, and baptized in the afternoon. He is the son of John Caspar Greiner and Caroline Magdalene his wife. Sponsors were George Faul, Mr. Rabenhorst and his wife.

Lydia, daughter of Jacob Caspar Waldhauer and his wife Agnesia, was born July 16, 176o, and baptized on the 17th. Sponsors were Andrew Seckinger, Apollonia Kiefer and the wife of Mr. Ewen in Savannah, who was represented by Mrs. Mayer.

Mary Judith, child of John Christopher Heintz and his wife Regina Barbara, was born July 17, 1760, and baptized the 18th. Sponsors were Pastor Lemcke and his wife, and the wife of Chr. Kraemer.

Jacob, son of Sebastian Haselauer and his wife Elizabeth, was born Aug. 20, 176o before day, and baptized in the afternoon of the same day. Sponsors were Christian Oechsle, John George Buntz and Anna Heck.

John Christopher, son of Sebastian Fetzer and his wife Ursula, was born in the night before Aug. 21, 176o, and baptized the 21st. Sponsors were John Christopher Heintz and Regina Barbara Heintz.

Christian, a Negro child, was born at the Mills in the night between Aug. 2o-21, 1760, and baptized the same day. Mr. Flerl and Mrs. Wertsch were the sponsors.

Conrad, child of John George Deininger and Anna Barbara his wife, was born Aug. 30, 1760 at midday and baptized in the evening. Sponsors are John Paulus, Conrad Rahn and his wife.

Michael, son of Balthesar Rieser and his wife Mary, was born Sept. 6, 176o in Bethany and baptized on the 7th, the 14th Sunday after Trinity. Sponsors were Michael Rieser, Master Wertsch and Mrs. Gertraud Boltzius.

Catherine, child of Jacob Metzcher and his wife Margaret, was born Sept. 1o, 1760, and baptized on the 11th. Sponsors were Mr. John Martin Boltzius and his wife and Mrs. Catharine Lemcke.

Hannah Elizabeth, daughter of John George Ziegler and his wife Catharine, was born Sept. 20, 1760, and baptized on the following 16th Sunday after Trinity. Sponsors were John George Haid, Mrs. H. Flerl ,and Mrs. Kogler.

Hannah Elizabeth, daughter of Daniel Schubtrein and his wife Magd., was born Sept. 23, 1760 in the forenoon, and baptized in the afternoon. Sponsors were Mr. Kraemer, his wife and Mrs. Weitmann.

Nathanael, son of Matth. Biedenbach and his wife, was born Nov. 6, 176o before day and baptized the same day immediately after the Thanksgiving sermon. Sponsors were John Hangleiter and his wife.

Samuel, son of Jacob Ihle and his wife, was born in the night before Nov. 7, 176o, .and was baptized on the 8th. Sponsors were John Adam Treutlen and Michael Behrmann and his wife.

N. B. Up to this point those baptized have been reported to the Society.

Hannah, daughter of Gabriel Maurer and his wife Anna, was born Nov. 27, 1760, and baptized the 28th. Sponsors were Carl Ott and his wife Anna Magdalena.

Abigail, daughter of John George Gnann and his wife Anna, was born in Bethany in the night between Nov. 29-30, 1760, and baptized on the 30th. Sponsors were Conrad Rahn and George Bechtel, Mrs. Kronberger and Mrs. Rahn.

Anna Barbara, child of Urban Buntz and his wife Margaret, was born Dec. 3, 176o in the forenoon and baptized in the afternoon. Sponsors were Christopher Kraemer and his wife, Ruprecht Zimmerebener and the wife of Louis Buntz.

Aaron, a Negro child, was born Dec. 7, 1760 on Zettler’s land, and baptized on the 8th. Zettler and his wife were the sponsors.
