Pupil to Willans and Robinson, Ltd., Rogby; Gordon Briant, M.I.E.E., Electrical Engineer to the Great Yarmouth Corp.; and E. T. Ruthven Murray, M.I.E.E., Electrical Engineer to Willesden U.D.C.; Ass’t. Eng. to the late Robert Hammond, M.I.E.E., 1903-04; with Merz & McLellan, Consulting Engineers, 1904-19 (from 1909 as Head of Electrical Department); since 1919 with Callender’s Cable and Construction Co.; during war Engineering Director to the Experiments and Research Section of the AntiSubmarine Division of the Naval Staff dealing with new methods of submarine location and destruction; member of the Council of the I.E.E.; past Chairman N.E. Centre L.E.E. 1914-15; on Committees of B.E.S.A., B.E. & A.L. Research Ass’n, and International Electro-technical Comm.; has devoted special attention to the development of electrical transmission.
