Biographical Sketch of Charles Platt

No man is better or more favorably known in Malheur County than is he whose name heads this sketch. He was born in New Haven, Conn., in 1852, and remained there until he came to Nevada in 1877, where he was engaged in the sheep business for about seven years. Coming then to Baker County, since Malheur, he at once became interested in his old business, and he is still largely identified with it in connection with George Series. In 1892, he was elected county assessor on the republican ticket, and in 1894 county clerk, and again in 1896. He is today looked upon as one of the steadfast leaders of his party, and both as a man and public official commands respect of all who meet him.
