FootNote
The new kid on the block, FootNote is known for digitizing historical
documents... many of which are genealogical gems. With naturalizations,
city directories, war records, newspapers, town records, etc... this new
kid is quickly being recognized as an alternative to Ancestry.
New Jersey Census online research should begin
with what is available online for free. If this proves fruitful then
congratulations! If not, then I would suggest signing up for the online
census images (links to the right) where you can access all the available
online New Jersey census information directly from your computer at home.
1800
Cumberland County New Jersey is the only New Jersey county
appearing within the 1800 census.
New Jersey's Census Information covers all census between
1800-1920. There are some known problems with the AISI indices that
Ancestry and others use as a basis for their census:
1830 index shows Atlantic for Bergen County entries.
1850 index doesn't include the township of Winslow,
Camden County.
