Spriet, Frank Julian – Obituary

Frank Julian Spriet, 95, of San Bernardino, Calif., a former Baker City resident, died Aug. 26, 2007, at the home of his daughter, Darlene.

His funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Montecito Memorial Park at Colton, Calif.

Frank was born on Dec. 30, 1911, at Baker City. He worked as a carpenter and building contractor for 36 years. He was skilled in every phase of building.

He had an inventive mind and always had projects in the making. Frank’s favorite sports were hunting and boxing.

He was a faithful Catholic until he was “born again” in 1974, his family said. He loved the Lord and witnessed to all his friends and family about their need to give their hearts to Jesus.

Frank left a legacy of courage, faithfulness, dependability, self-confidence, hard work, self-discipline and thriftiness, plus many talents in the line of construction.

He was a “hero” to his great-grandsons and will be greatly missed, his family said.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy; his wife, Sadie; his two brothers, Willy and Marcel; and his sister, Julia Phillips.

Survivors include his brother, Deal; his daughter, Barbara Buchan of San Bernardino and her children, Randy and Diane Powell, and her grandchildren Laura Kelly and Amy Powell and his daughter, Darlene Gnehm, of Rialto, Calif., her children, Cherie Wright, Laura Riggs, Patti Williams and Barbie Gordin, her grandchildren, Jared Cleghorn, Rachel Shealey, Justin and Lisa Riggs and David and Daniel Williams, and her great- grandchildren, Caleb, Cori and Logan Riggs.
