Jackson, Susie May Pedrick – Obituary

Mrs. Susie Pedrick Jackson, 66, died at 8 a.m. Thursday [July 16, 1953] in Chugwater, Wyo., of a heart attack following the death of her husband, Grant Jackson, Tuesday [July 14]. Born in Ottumwa on October 27, 1886, she was the daughter of Tom and Emma Pedrick. She was married to Mr. Jackson in November, 1927.

She is survived by two sons, Warren Jackson of Chugwater, Wyo., and Paul Jackson of Pasadena, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Roberta Rhoads of Chugwater, Wyo., and Mrs. Carol True of Pasadena Calif.; 10 grandchildren; three sisters, Ina McMillin and Addie Pickett, both of Ottumwa, and Mildred McMillin of Chugwater, Wyo.; and two brothers, Paul of Moulton and Frank Pedrick of Ottumwa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Will of Fairfield, and one daughter. Double funeral services are pending. Burial will be in Chugwater.

Double funeral services were held last Friday, July 17, at the Iowa Flats Church for Mr. and Mrs. Grant Jackson who passed away within two days of each other. Mr. Jackson’s death occurring on Tuesday, July 14 and his wife succumbing two days later on Thursday.

Mr. and Mrs. Jackson were former residents of the Iowa Flats community, having settled there in 1912. In 1940 they retired and moved to California to make their home. The couple had returned to Wyoming on June 22 from their Pasadena home for a visit with their children, Warren P. Jackson and Mrs. Earnest Rhoades of Chugwater. The father had been in ill health for some time but Mrs. Jackson’s death was sudden and unexpected.

Lacy Grant Jackson, 72, was born in Fremont, Ia., October 26, 1880. He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Rhoades near Chugwater on July 14.

Susie May Jackson, 67, was born in Ottumwa, Ia., October 27, 1885. She also passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Rhoades on July 16.

The Rev. Lyle Rich and Rev. Coolidge officiated at the double rites held last Friday and interment took place in the Iowa Flats Cemetery. Bearers of the caskets were Eugene Penick, Darrel Peterson, Kenneth Kennedy, Ernest Wilkins, Ralph Enix, and Stanley Meeker.

Mr. and Mrs. Jackson’s survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Earnest Rhoades of Chugwater and Mrs. Myron True of Pomona, Calif.; two sons Warren P. of Chugwater and Paul E. of Pasadena, Calif.; and eleven grandchildren.

Mr. Jackson is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Frank Storm, Keosockua, Ia.; a half-sister, Mrs. Nell Torrey of Montana; and two half brothers, Wesley and John Jackson.

Survivors of Mrs. Jackson include three sisters, Mrs. Mildred McMillan, Chugwater; Mrs. Ina McMillan; and Mrs. Addie Pickett both of Ottumwa, Ia., and two brothers, Frank Pedrick of Ottumwa and Paul Pedrick of Missouri.
