Mrs. R. P. Anderson Native of County Was Born At Muddy Creek Section in 1878

News was received here Thursday of the death of Viola Ann Anderson, 65, at Burlingame, California where she has spent the past two years with her daughters.

Viola Ann Long was born Jan. 7, 1878 on a farm in the Muddy Creek section. She was the daughter of the late Alonzo and Julia Ann Long, pioneer settlers in the valley. She spent her girlhood there and attended the Muddy Creek School.

After her marriage to R. P. Anderson, she lived in Haines. Mr. Anderson was elected sheriff of Baker County in 1912. They moved to Baker and lived there until Mr. Anderson’s death may 28, 1940. She is survived by her two daughters, Mrs. Grace White of Burlingame and Mrs. Blanche Kennon of Sonora, California; four brothers, John and Will of Baker, Lee of Phoenix, Arizona, and Arch of Portland; three sisters Mrs. Clara Welch of Los Angeles, Mrs. Rose Bell of Sisters, and Mrs. Lora Loy of Farina, Ill.; and by many other relatives in Baker county.

Mrs. Anderson was a past president of the Baker County Pioneer association, a member of the Haines Baptist church and Rebekah lodge.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 o’clock Sunday afternoon in Baker, the Rev. Sidney Walker officiating. Burial was in Mt. Hope cemetery.
