Anderson, John – Obituary

Enterprise, Wallowa County, Oregon

John Anderson, who had lived in Enterprise nearly two years, died Sunday evening at the home of Chris Bauer, a degeneration of the heart and blood vessels caused death. Burial was in Enterprise Cemetery Monday afternoon.

Until a month ago, Mr. Anderson lived at the hotel Enterprise. Then he suffered a stroke of paralysis and was taken to Mr. Bauer’s that he might receive closer care.

Mr. Anderson was born in Cincinnati May 31, 1839. He had lived in Michigan, St. Louis, Nevada, California, Washington and Oregon. For some years he was employed on Mississippi river boats plying between St. Louis and New Orleans. Later in his life he was a building contractor and accumulated considerable property.

His wife died some years ago, but an adopted daughter in Seattle survives. Mr. Anderson had a brother, Henry B. Anderson in St. Louis and a sister, Mrs. Kate G. Barstow of San Diego, California. Mr. Anderson left a will; it is said, devising his estate to his sister. The property consisted of real estate in Cincinnati and in Wallowa.
