About History of Indiana

This database contains a history of Indiana from its exploration to 1922 (the year of publishing). It currently only contains volumes 1 and 2 of the 3-volume series. Information provided in these first two volumes cover the subjects of the French and English in Indiana, the Indian Wars, from territory to state, politics, economic development of Indiana in the earlier part of the nineteenth century, the Civil War, and Reconstruction, as well as many others. Historical works contain valuable information that can be a great addition to your genealogical research. Although historical works will generally not mention your ancestors specifically, they do provide information on the time and place in which your ancestors lived, which in turn will help you place your ancestors into a historical context.
