About New York State History

This database contains Volumes I-IV of a four volume series called Documentary History of the State of New York. It is comprised of various historical documents from the 17th and 18th centuries. Topics of these documents vary but some of them include native Indian tribes, expeditions, settlements, counties, and cities. As many of these documents are first-hand accounts, or nearly first-hand accounts, they are wonderful sources for learning about the early history of New York.
