This work provides a history of the Swiss and German people emphasizing their hardships during several centuries prior to and the two centuries following the Reformation. It continues with their migration, their search for religious freedom, and their settlement in southeastern Pennsylvania in the Susquehanna and Schuylkill Valleys. In addition to chronologically laying out the events that lead up to the settlement of the Swiss and Germans in this area the work also includes information about the growth and influence of these people and their communities upon Pennsylvania and all of America.
