About Sacramento, California, U.S., Sacramento Bee Newspaper Obituaries, Marriages, Births, 1859

Early in California, the Sacramento Bee newspaper reported marriages, deaths, and births for not only Sacramento but also for surrounding areas like San Francisco, Roseville, Yolo County, etc. The index for 1859 contains those births, deaths, and marriages that were published in the paper during 1859 and some from late in 1858. The printed announcement will sometimes give the names of wives or husbands, fathers or mothers, location of event. If it is a birth the parents would be listed, if it is a marriage listed it would be the spouse listed. In the death records it has been clarified in the database record. This database contains the last name, first name, type event, when it happened and when it was published in the paper. Where possible I have tried to include the names of the parents for the birth citations. This database contains over 6,000 names and is a significant help when used in conjunction with the 1860 census to identify various relationships.
