About California, U.S., Mortuary and Cemetery Records, 1801-1932

This is a collection of Northern California burial and death records from 1800-1900. The records come from four different books that cover both Northern California in general and San Francisco, El Dorado, and Tehama County cemeteries.

The books contain index cards with vital records on them. They serve as a mini-biography of the deceased. Some cards have more information than others. Some cards simply have the name and years of birth and death while others contain specific dates, cause of death, attending physician, burial location and parents’ names.

These records may include:

  • Name
  • Birthplace
  • Age
  • Birth date
  • Death date
  • Location of death
  • Location of burial
